Pet Food Containers - How to Pick 'Em

Once you are finalized with the way of putting in the pet food, it is not a hard task to find pet food containers that suits you. In the marketplace, you will be able to get a wide range of containers that differ from the visual aspect, sort, qualities and characteristics. Still, the select of container bets on the suitability and the amount of pet food that you will be putting in.

Often many of us think that our pets need more food and that their metabolism rate is much higher to that of ours. Nevertheless pets have sensitive eating habits when compared to humans. Through eating expired food can lead pets to experience important health matters.

Before looking for pet food containers, find out your true requirements and viable methods of putting in. Some of the elements that need to be viewed are the type of material that the tin is made of, size of the pet food containers so that it can be moved with comfort. The structure of the container needs to be of a durable nature for persistent use.

For keeping the quality and freshness, the pet food containers need to be airtight. As with any food, the pet food containers require to keep pests and other insects away from entry the container. The design of the pet food container s lid is important .The opening of the lid should be easy for anyone, even for elderly people.

When it comes to maintaining and cleanup the pet food containers, it needs to be easy to clean and requires to keep any bugs from entry. Make sure that you buy pet food containers that are not easily chewable. As sometimes a dog may put in all the effort to chew the container. If they eat excessively, it can damage their health. Ensure that the lids of these containers are tightly and securely sealed as these can create danger to your pet. A quality pet food container will prevent the possible threats that could harm your pet food such as mold, bacteria, insects and air. Air will take away the nutritional value of food and although when care is taken, total prevention of air entry the container is not viable.

Dark, warm, and moist containers usually house bacteria. Nevertheless control of bacteria is beyond control, there are few measures that can be needed to cut the interference of bacteria; stock the pet food containers in a dry, cool place and avoid places that wet can jumble.

A Guide To Rabbit Care

Rabbits make great pets thanks to their friendly and inquisitive nature. Many rabbits love human interaction and enjoy being held and stroked.Rabbit care is essential and as with any other pet, a responsible owner will do all in his or her power to ensure their rabbit is healthy.Rabbits are easy to look after and make a great addition to any family. To ensure your rabbit is healthy and happy try and follow some of these great tips.

A rabbit needs several basics which you must provide. These are a hutch, bedding, food and space to run around. The hutch will need to have adequate height to allow the rabbit to stand on its back legs. It also needs to be wide enough for the rabbit to hop around. In terms of space make sure the hutch is big enough to allow the rabbit to make at least 4 hops in any direction.Just like us, a rabbit likes to have a distinct area for certain activities, so make sure you allocate a space for sleep, a space for the toilet and a space in which to play.If you have more than one rabbit in the same hutch you will need to increase this space.Bedding is important. Rabbits like to snuggle down at night and need to be kept warm. For additional insulation you need to line the hutch with newspaper and dust free straw. The location of the hutch is really important and you should make sure it is not placed in an area of direct sunlight, or open to draughts.Cover the hutch at night with a breathable fabric so the rabbit is not confronted with any night time predators such as foxes and cats.Of course rabbits don’t want to be couped up in a hutch all day. Your rabbit would really appreciate a safe place to run and play and a rabbit run can provide this environment.

A rabbit needs a specific diet and digestible and non digestible fibre is important. This type of fibre is required because a rabbit will digest its food twice.Your rabbit does not need a high level of articicial sugar in its diet, so make sure you don’t feed it mass market rabbit museli.Try and buy a specialist vet approved rabbit food.Look for deals on specialist pet food on the internet or go to a pet food retailer.Rabbits love a treat, so offer it healthy and tasty snacks like fresh apple, chopped cabbage and juicy tomatoes.

Rabbits really do make great pets, and these simple tips will go a long way in ensuring your pet rabbit has a long and happy life.

As a huge movie buff, one of my all-time favorite teen flicks being "Clueless" starring Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, who later went on to "Friends" and other movies, and Brittarny Murphy. So last December, I was stunned by the news about Brittany Murphy's sudden death. Animal Chiropractic

My heart went out to her mother and her husband, Simon Monjack, as they laid her to rest, following her funeral, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California. The 32-year old actress had a heart attack, which caused her death at their shared home with her husband in LA on December 20, 2009, as stated by the news reports.

I have seen breathtaking pictures that Simon had taken of Brittany as I clicked on her husband's web site. It is such a shame for someone that beautiful and talented to be taken too soon.

What truly broke my heart was when I learned of Brittany's female Maltese named Clara aside from the tragic loss of her family and fans. As an animal lover, I wept when I read online from people magazine's web site that the dog was experiencing a change in behavior since Brittany's death, according to Brittany's husband.

Simon Monjack was quoted in People magazine, saying, "One of the saddest things is that Clara has looked everywhere for Brittany and can't find her,” and "Clara, she looked in every place Brittany could be, she couldn't understand why Brittany was not in bed or in the bathroom, and she looked in every inch of the house." Brittany named her after silent film star Clara Bow and was reported as describing Clara as “a humongous personality in a tiny package. She’s more of a family member than a pet.

Though I had never really given much thought, this tragic turn of events make me wonder how pets react to their owner's death. Do pets have the ability to mourn? If so, how do survivors handle the pet's physical and emotional health during the mourning period? Pet Depression

Dr. Ava Frick, my pet's veterinarian, is a pet behavior specialist. In fact, she has been using Alpha Stim technology treatments on one of my dogs due to problems with his excessive barking and showing aggression toward my other two dogs.

Dr. Frick and I discussed Clara and pets' ability to mourn during our next appointment.  She said that undergoing a mourning period after the loss of a human or animal companion is common for a dog. Symptoms are actually displayed for days or even weeks with decreased appetite, lethargy, and changes in the dog's behavior.

Keeping a dog on its normal routine is important in such cases, she said. As with humans who are going through issues, exercise can do wonders to relieve stress for pets.  Being with familiar people, and even meeting a few new friendly faces, can boost the pet’s mood, as well.

If the pet’s mourning period seems to carry on, it is a good idea to seek the advice of professionals. Your veterinarian can identify Physiologic abnormalities, which might be contributing to the dog's depression.

Complementary and alternative therapies like acupuncture, herbal supplements, and dietary modification are suitable for dogs who are mourning and experiencing depression. Dog Pain Relief

Litter Box Training Tips

While training a dog can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience, cat training is considerably more difficult. We’re not talking about training your cat to roll over or sit—we’re talking simple things like teaching your cat to use the litter box or a scratching post. It’s important that your goals are realistic so you don’t spend a great deal of time and frustration trying to teach your cat something he simply can’t learn to do.

The first thing you need to understand before you attempt to train your cat is that the mindset of a cat is much different than that of a dog. Where a dog takes a great deal of joy in pleasing his owner, a cat is not so selfless; he won’t do anything that doesn’t please himself. This is a very simple state of psychology, one that you will have to use to your advantage if you are to successfully teach your cat something.

If you want to train your cat to use the litter box, the first thing you’re going to want to do is make it accessible (but not so much that it becomes a nuisance to family members or guests in your home). You also want to keep it clean, but leave just a little soiled litter in the tray—not so much that it reeks, but just enough that your cat can learn to associate the litter box with going to the bathroom. If you catch your kitty going anywhere he isn’t supposed to, pick him up and move him to the litter box. Eventually he will catch on that this is where he should go. When he uses the litter box successfully, give him a nice scratch behind the ears or a pat. Cats are affectionate through touch rather than verbal praise, so you’ll get the best response through this method.

Some pet stairs have hollow areas meant to store your litter box. This helps to keep your little box smell contained as well as to give your cat a quiet place to do his business. If your cat is comfortable in the space his litter box is placed, he will be more likely to use it.

You may be struggling with a cat that is too liberal with scratching your sofa or carpet. Scratching is normal behaviour for a cat, as it helps keep their claws in shape and gives them a bit of exercise. It can also be a form of marking their territory. To encourage your cat to stop this, you’ll need to invest in a scratching post. There are many different types to choose from, and your cat will likely have his personal preference. If he doesn’t take well to the first scratching post you buy, try rubbing it with catnip. This is an herb that entices cats into a playful state where he is more likely to use the scratching post. You might even attach a toy to the post to help him get rid of excess energy. Placing the post in the room that your cat frequents most is another way to encourage him to use it.

The Importance of Pet Health Care

We’re a nation of animal lovers and pets are like part of the family. This is why pet health care is as important as human health care. Visiting the vet can be expensive, but knowing the basics to keep your companion healthy may help by reducing the need for medication and surgery in later life.

It’s important to vaccinate large pets such as cats and dogs. Owners are often tempted to leave animals unvaccinated because of the cost. In the long run though, vaccination saves money by protecting against life threatening conditions.

Cats and dogs should also be wormed and treated for fleas and ticks. Again, this may seem expensive but it’s better to be safe than sorry and it’ll ensure your pet is happy.

A major part of pet health care is making sure your pet is happy and comfortable. All animals need a suitable place to sleep. Cats might sleep in a variety of different places in the house. However, dogs should be given a bed. Even small pets like hamsters and rabbits need a warm, comfortable place to sleep. Although hamster bedding can be bought in pet shops, they are just as happy with shredded paper.

Your pet’s diet is also very important to their health. pet obesity is actually a problem in the UK, so care should be taken to feed pets the right food. Fatty milk isn’t great for cats, so save it for treats only. It is very easy to get accustomed to feeding your dog food intended for people at the table. A little of this is ok, but remember when he’s at the table begging for food that he also has dog food to eat, so not to give him too much. Rabbits love fresh vegetables and varying their diet is fantastic for them.

Exercise is very important for pets. Even small pets like hamsters need a good run, so make sure they have the biggest cage you can accommodate to give them space to explore. It’s also a good idea to let your hamster out of its cage daily; you could buy a plastic ball for it to run about in. Watch out though, as hamsters are great escape artists. Cats can be relied upon to get their exercise themselves, but it’s worth using toys to keep them active. When it’s cold outside, some cats are reluctant to go out, even though you feel sorry for your cat, a gentle push in the right direction is good for them. Since most dogs love walking, they are the easiest pet to exercise. It’s important to give your dog the right amount of exercise as too much can be bad for him. Generally, you can assume the bigger the dog, the longer his walk should be.

These simple rules will create a healthy lifestyle  for your pet. Always make sure your pet is given a vet check up once a year, but remember that a healthy lifestyle is vital to pet health care. Following this advice could save you a lot of money, and more importantly, heartache by saving your animal from becoming unwell in the first place.

Animalerie a Sherbrooke

On l'a échappé belle!

Below is a brief description of just three simple groundwork exercises you can perform with your own horse or a horse you are training. Such exercises are the foundation of familiarity and trust between you and your horse. Future training success is dependant on good groundwork. It is important for your safety that your new ton-sized friend is taught to respect your personal space bubble.

The secret to horse training is to remain patient, persistent, and to use plenty of positive reinforcement. These three P's can be applied to all current and future levels of horse training.

1. Groom your horse. Grooming represents more than just a perfect first exercise for you and your horse. Grooming is a great way for you to get to know each other. Brush his neck and back as you stand beside him. A horse will often turn to give you a little love bit at this time. Horses do this to each other, but may not do it to humans. You can discourage this easily enough by the wave of a hand or by pushing his head back to the straight position. It must be made clear from the beginning that this is not acceptable - particularly as a horse's teeth are so big. Be patient and very calm. He'll soon understand and cooperate. It's pointless to shout, smack or get panicky with your horse. That will set your trust level backwards.

2. Lead your horse. With the lead rope in your right hand, walk beside your horse on his left side while holding the rope just below his chin. Take a step and walk slowly forward. The horse should stay at your right and not try to step ahead. If he tries to go ahead just walk around him to your left in a circle. Do this as many times as necessary. Be persistent. Use the circular movement to stay just ahead of him, where you should be. Should your horse not want to walk with you then stand slightly behind him, at his shoulder, facing the same direction. Push forward while holding the rope close to his chin. Once he takes a step, praise him and use your positive reinforcement skills. When he starts to walk willingly, take your place slightly ahead of him and walk on. Never wrap the lead rope around any part of yourself - this is for your own safety. If the horse decides to bolt you'll be going along and it will not be pretty.

3. Lunge your horse. This is a great exercise used by most horse trainers and owners. Lunging will teach many of the skills and commands, or cues, your horse will need to know when you're ready to work him under saddle.

In a large open area (an arena works, too, if you don't have a round enclosure) clip your horse to a lunge lead specifically for lunging. This will be 30 ft long (approximately 10m), much longer than the short lead rope you use for the lead exercise. Clip the lead to the horse's left halter side and hold the lead in your left hand. Begin by holding the lunge line and facing the horses left side. Use a lunge whip to guide the horse along, held in your right hand. Now step to your right sideways toward the rear of the horse while holding the whip out behind him. The natural reaction will be for the horse to step forward. Let the line out and follow the horse just behind and to the left side and make a kissing sound. Soon that sound will come to mean "move forward" to your horse. Just hold the whip slightly behind the horse's hindquarters as you are turning and the horse is moving in a circle around you. You do not use the whip for hitting. You will use it to get the horse's attention by waving it about a little.

Move yourself slowly backwards to the centre as the horse is moving forwards. With the lunge lead fully extended, stand in the middle and turn as the horse walks around you in a circle. Watch your horse's hip area as he's going round.

Here you can teach him the "whoa" command. Say the word "whoooaaa" in a low and calm voice. At the same time, step toward your horse's head and repeat the word. Lots of praise, and a little neck rub, should be given when he stops. You will help him remember what to do through this positive reinforcement.

Changing your position now will allow you to lunge your horse in an anti-clockwise manner. Do this by swapping hands so that you hold the lunge whip in your left hand whilst the lead is clipped to the right side of the halter.

The above represents just a small selection of basic horse training exercises. Consider the sheer size and strength of this beautiful creature at all times. This alone should be enough to remind you to have adequate horse insurance in place should either you or your equine be injured. Your success with training and all future activities depends both on safety and trust. As well as a loyal friend, your horse is also an investment, so remember to protect that investment against theft, accident or misadventure by making sure you compare horse insurance policies to ensure you are getting the best level of cover for both of your needs.

Small at heart but enormous in potential impact best describes Plasmacluster Ion technology which runs on a tiny dynamo. Our Sharp air purifier review zeroes in on the enriched high concentration Plasmacluster Ion generator. Whilst it measures only 57mm by 28.5mm by 15.5mm, this generator is responsible for the reactive agents, without which the air purifier is worthless.

Overview of Plasmacluster Ion Technology

Plasma is formed upon delivery of negative and positive voltages to the discharge electrodes in the Plasmacluster Ion generator. The fourth state of matter, plasma now ranks with the three more well-known states of liquid, gas, solid. A partly ionized gas-like state, it contains free electrons that are not bound to a molecule or atom. Disintegration of water molecules that permeate plasma lead to the creation of negative ions (oxygen) and positive ions (hydrogen). Separately, water molecules in the air cluster around the oxygen and hydrogen ions, resulting in the distinctively stable Plasmacluster Ions being created. Any contact by Plasmacluster Ions with pathogens leads to the instantaneous formation of the highly unstable and reactive hydroxyl radical. These characteristics cause the hydroxyl radical to bond readily with hydrogen atoms on pathogen surface membranes. The outcome; harmless water as a by-product and dead pathogens. A perfect solution! But is it fact or fiction?

Plasmacluster Ion – Scientific Fact or Science Fiction?

A serious Sharp air purifier review must resolve a fundamental doubt – are Plasmacluster Ions fact or fiction? In common with many other nanotechnology products, Plasmacluster Ions are invisible to the human eye. Making matters tricky for individuals who rely on air purifiers is the inability to test the validity of the claims. Individuals really have no alternative but to base their decisions on tests results of Plasmacluster Ion applications. There are 2 ways to do this, in the real world or efficiency testing or in the laboratory or efficacy testing.

An established corporate player with a long track record of successes, Sharp has anticipated these concerns. For this purpose, Sharp introduced and continues to promote the concept of academic marketing. This is a collaborative effort between Sharp and academia with the objective of reputable institutions testing and producing scientific data to confirm the claims made with regard to Plasmacluster Ions. From the joint efforts, scientific data generated provides a foundation for Sharp's new products. The definition of effectiveness has been fine-tuned into efficacy and efficiency. Between 2000 and July 2009, it focused on efficacy testing. Attention is now focused on efficiency testing, performed with the cooperation of Plasmacluster Ion technology end users.

Plasmacluster Ion – Certification at Molecular Levels

Seeking further for the purpose of this Sharp air purifier review, we found that Sharp had gone beyond the typical efficacy and efficiency tests of the industry. On 17 November 2004, Sharp announced the results of studies by Professor Gerhard Artmann of the Department of Cell Biophysics and Bioengineering, University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Through the use of an electron microscope, Professor Artmann (a cellular engineering expert) verified that Plasmacluster Ions damaged more than 60 proteins on the surface cell membranes of pathogens leading to inactivation of both viruses and bacteria.

A very significant result indicated that Plasmacluster Ions will not pierce the pathogens' cell membranes to reach the core cell DNA. As DNA destruction is not relied upon to inactivate pathogens, unlike some other competing air purification technologies, a clear advantage is claimed. Clearly, the danger of cancer from DNA destruction is also being alluded to with regard to other air purification technologies .

Plasmacluster Ion – Efficacy Tests

This current Sharp air purifier review highlights the efficacy tests that Sharp has conducted, together with several organizations, on various pathogens. Conducted over the years from September 2000 to July 2009, the tests have proven that Plasmacluster Ions are effective in removing 28 kinds of harmful airborne microorganisms. It is noteworthy that the list of 28 includes such notoriously harmful pathgoens like MRSA, a bacterium that infects hospitalized patients, and viruses like the SARS virus, the H5N1 avian flu virus and the H1N1 virus that caused many fatalities in Mexico in 2009.

Among other viruses inactivated by Plasmacluster Ions are the polio virus, the coxsackie virus that afflicts one with the common cold and the feline coronavirus which infects cats. Also destroyed are bacteria like enterococcus, staphylococcus, white staphylococcus, micrococcus, serrata bacterium, sarcina, bacillus subtilis, escherichia coli, candida and pseudomonas. Mites, allergens and pollen have also been effectively dealt with together with fungi like cladosporium, penicillium, stachybotrys, alternaria, mucor and aspergillus.

The following organizations conducted tests on Plasmacluster Ion technology:

- Asthma Society of Canada

- University of Lübeck, Germany

- CT&T, Aachen University of Applied Science, Germany

- Harvard School of Public Health, USA

- Retroscreen Virology, Ltd., London, UK

- Seoul University, Korea

- Ishikawa Health Service Association, Japan

- Graduate School of Advanced Sciences of Matter, Hiroshima University, Japan

- Kitasato Research Center of Environmental Sciences, Japan

- Kitasato Institute, Medical Center Hospital, Japan

- Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, China

The last reported efficacy test was reported on 27 July 2009 involving the Osaka City University Medical School validating the inhibitory power of Plasmacluster Ions on allergic reactions caused by mite allergens or mite dust (mite feces and dead mites).

In concluding our Sharp air purifier review on efficacy testing, we would highlight that a key factor is that they were conducted by organizations which have attained GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) status, an OECD guideline that attests the reliability of tests results produced. GLP status has to be renewed every 3 years. An important factor, yet this fact is often given no weight by critics of academic marketing and air purification technologies. Yet another overlooked fact is the possibility of scientifically peer reviewing the test results of a GLP laboratory. The much-vaunted scientific peer review is the last frontier to be conquered before the world will change its perceptions of the air purification industry and with it, Sharp's Plasmacluster Ion technology!

We invite you to sign up as we proceed to complete our Sharp air purifier review.

For proper health and growth of pets, healthy and balanced meals are required. Hence, it is pet owner s responsibility to make sure that their pet is getting the right nutritional supply daily. One way to make this process assured is to use pet food. Although there are a number of pet food brands in super markets, not all of them have the same types of elements. Therefore, some pet food is great for your pet and some are not  that  great.

When it comes to pet food nutrition, there are many things that a pet owner must know. First of all, the pet owner must be aware of the nutritional essentials of the pet. As an example, the nutritional necessities for cats and dogs vary. In addition, nutritionary essentials for cats in various life stages also vary. An example is that a kitten requires more protein percentage out of the cat food as compared to an adult cat. Therefore, understanding what your pet requires is the key in deciding on pet food nutrition.

Among pet food nutrition ingredients, proteins play a essential role. Some pets, such as cats, require more animal proteins than the rest as these pets come from a carnovores background. For cats, proteins are the main source of energy. Ordinarily, every cat food product at least should have 24% of protein and higher is taken better.

There is a good mechanism which differentiates great and bad pet foods based on pet food nutrition ingredients. When it comes to cats, there should be more animal elements included in the food. A good cat food will have the meat items as the first elements. The grain based ingredients must be at the bottom of the list, preferably at fifth or sixth place. Cat food must never be majorly based on gains or carbohydrate elements. So, pet food nutrition ingredients must always read  complete and balanced . When you buy pet food in a  store, make sure to see whether you find the words 'complete and balanced' as pet food nutrition ingredients should be balanced in the food.

In some pet foods, pet food nutrition ingredients are not balanced. This is standard among the pet food nutrition products that are low-priced in price. These products and focused on reducing the manufacturing costs, so they use high amounts of grain based pet food nutrition ingredients in their pet foods. So, be careful when you choose a low-priced pet food can and make sure to read the label in detail.
